Anthropic ships major Claude Code desktop update with live app previews, automated code review, and GitHub PR monitoring with auto-fix capabilities.
Anthropic released a significant update to Claude Code on February 20, adding live application previews, automated code review, and GitHub pull request monitoring with auto-fix capabilities to its desktop application.
The update arrives as Anthropic pushes deeper into AI-assisted development. Just two days earlier, a Claude Code creator predicted the software engineering title would “start to go away” in 2026, claiming the tool now writes nearly 100% of internal code at Anthropic.
What’s New
The desktop app can now launch dev servers and display running applications directly in the interface. Claude monitors the webapp UI, reads console logs, catches errors, and iterates without requiring developers to switch between browser and IDE. Users can select visual elements in the preview and pass feedback to Claude for immediate iteration.
A new “Review code” button lets Claude examine local diffs before pushing. The AI leaves inline comments highlighting bugs, suggestions, and potential issues directly in the desktop diff view. Developers can then ask Claude to address those comments automatically.
GitHub Integration Gets Serious
For GitHub-hosted projects, Claude Code now tracks pull request status including CI check passes and failures. The auto-fix feature attempts to resolve CI failures automatically when enabled. Turn on auto-merge, and Claude will merge PRs once all checks pass.
The workflow implications are notable: developers can open a PR, move to a new task, and let Claude monitor and fix CI issues in the background. By the time you circle back, the original PR is either ready for review or already merged.
Session Continuity
Sessions now sync across platforms. Running /desktop in the CLI brings full session context into the desktop app. A “Continue with Claude Code on the web” button moves local sessions to the cloud, letting users start on desktop and pick up from mobile.
Market Context
Anthropic’s tokenized stock (PreStocks) traded at $375.39 as of February 19, up 4.44% over 24 hours with a market cap of $2.90 million. The company released Claude Sonnet 4.6 with improved coding capabilities on February 17 and announced an enterprise AI collaboration with Infosys the same day.
The update is available now to all users through the Claude Code desktop download.
