Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), majority-owned by US President Donald Trumpβs family, has filed for two artificial intelligence (AI) trademarks tied to a planned feature on the Truth Social platform.
βTruth Social AIβ and βTruth Social AI Search,β the names under which the trademark applications were submitted, will allow Truth Social to become a source of βreliable information, non-woke news, and entertainment,β according Trump Media Chairman and CEO Devin Nunes.
TMTG’s shares closed the day 5.5% higher on Wednesday, a rally that outstripped the Nasdaq, index on which the company is listed. Trump Media posted a net loss of $31.7 million for Q1 2025, with revenue of $8.8 million.
Other social media platforms have used AI for real-time translation, help center chatbots and personalized content. Cointelegraph reached out to TMTG for comment on the trademarks but had not received a response at time of publication.
TMTG has filed trademarks before for emerging technology use cases, including for a cryptocurrency trading and payment service and ETFs tied to the platform. In February, DTTM Operations, another Trump-owned company, filed trademarks for a Trump-branded metaverse.

βShenanigansβ with emerging tech, social media
Trump Social has a reported 6.3 million users as of January, though this number has varied significantly in the past 12 months. Still, the user base is relatively small compared to other social media platforms like Facebook, with reportedly 3.1 billion monthly active users in 2023.
On many platforms, there have been reports of βshenanigansβ involving emerging technology and algorithms. On X, Elon Musk promised to retool Grok after users complained it was becoming too βwokeβ β a term to suggest that a person or organization is overly focused on progressive social issues. The result was an AI program that pronounced itself βMechaHitler.β
Some people, including politicians, have accused Facebook of suppressing conservative viewpoints.
