Leonardo.Ai has released a specialized image upscaling tool built specifically for AI-generated content, addressing a persistent pain point for creators working with synthetic imagery. The Pro Upscaler scales AI images to 105 megapixels while actively correcting the artifacts that traditional upscalers typically amplify.
The core problem? Most upscaling tools were trained exclusively on photographs. When they encounter the unique texture patterns and synthetic grain inherent to AI-generated images, they misinterpret these elements and introduce distortions. Leonardo’s solution trains specifically on AI content fingerprints.
Two Modes for Different Workflows
The tool splits into Precise and Creative modes. Precise acts as a straightforward magnifier with an optional artifact-fixing toggleโuseful when your base generation is already clean. Creative mode goes further, actively rebuilding structural problems like malformed hands or distorted faces during the upscale process.
Creative mode offers three intensity levels: Subtle for light refinement, Balanced for moderate repairs, and Strong for aggressive reconstruction of problematic generations. The stronger the setting, the more liberty the AI takes in reinterpreting unclear details.
Professional Output Specifications
The 105MP ceiling covers essentially every professional use case. For digital work, that handles everything from social media posts through 8K displays. For print, it supports 300 DPI output for A1 posters and magazine spreads, while billboard applications at standard viewing distances need far less resolutionโthe tool delivers 52 DPI at 48-sheet highway billboard scale.
